My Hobbies

My creative interests and hobbies are gathered here with some description or examples.

📊Main

  • Software Development
    The strongest interest I have, besides of course C++ programming.
    It is best shown by the multitude of libraries used and my extensive set of projects. Which I made since my first game at age of 12.
    I have already been developing in most areas: programs, games, GPU, libraries, tools, embedded and websites.
  • Digital electronics
    I developed a strong interest for it already in technical high school.
    For few years I got into controllers again, when programming ARM in C/C++ got easy.
    I use Teensy 4.0, earlier 3.2 and STM32 F103. I have a Rigol DS1052E digital oscilloscope, but rarely used it recently.
    I use my own keyboard firmware (based on Teensy and with display) everyday since 2018.
  • Computer Graphics
    I always had a moderate level of creating and composing art, best shown in my games. Especially in overall composition of Stunt Rally, its 34 sceneries and all the tracks, mostly created (or finished) by me. Art is also showing on my website and in my older music and drawings.
  • I am generally a fan of FOSS, its progression, culture and freedom.
    All my recent projects (since 2010) are Open Source.

📜Past, Inactive

Older creative interests, which I had at around the ages 20-24 and don’t practice anymore, were:

  • Physics, Simulation and its use in games.
    At university I gained interest in engineering grade software. It ended with my master thesis implementing SPH with CUDA.
    Even before that, I started with real time game physics, first PhysX then bullet.
    I have been reading a bit about tires and vehicle dynamics. All became quite useful in Stunt Rally.
  • 🎶Composing music and playing electric guitar. More here.
    This has let me express my creativity in yet another area.
  • 🎸Analog electronics, guitar effects. More here.
    I started with electronics about age 14, at end of elementary school. I am still active in digital electronics.
  • 🖌️Drawing, 2D.
    Did a couple of decorative texts for logos and a big abstract 2D painting.
    It was a sudden, creative hobby in my technical high school.

It is separated, because I truly believe a hobby has to be creative.
Watching movies, hanging out with friends or playing games, for me, is just a way of spending time at best (and wasting at worst).
