Firefox add-ons / extensions
The list below shows all of my favorite Firefox add-ons. Some are also available for other browsers.
Grouped in categories by my order of importance.
Absolutely essential
- uBlock Origin – No bloody commercials, period. Also if it misses some, you can pick areas to block.
- Stylus – Using with my global style to have my own, consistent, dark theme on all websites (preview image).
I rarely turn it off, to check original look.
For Tabs
- Tab Sidebar – Shows tabs on left as list.
I’ve hidden top bar in my userChrome.css file and made it narrower, also fixed bookmark dialog. - Group Speed Dial – Start page for bookmarks and folders. I usually use 8×6 grid, with 2 levels.
- Tab Session Manager – Also for those cases when I would loose my session.
To fix / improve usability
- Gesturefy – Gestures with right mouse button. I’m using: D – New Tab, DU – Duplicate Tab, U – Save Image.
- Download Manager (S3) – Status bar for downloads.
- Zoom Page WE – I’m was it with 120% as default (now not, it seems already in browser)
- Search by Image – Right click menu on image, to search other size, website etc.
Great small GUI fixes
- Tab Counter Plus – Shows the number of opened tabs.
- Open tabs next to current
- Default bookmark folder
- ScrollAnywhere
For privacy
- DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials
- Privacy badger – Automatic tracker blocking.
- Disconnect – Block invisible websites that track your search and browsing history.
- HTTPS Everywhere – If HTTPS works, don’t use HTTP (is now in browser).
- I still don’t care about cookies – I do actually, it disables those stupid messages.
Other
- Enhancer for YouTube – Few useful fixes.
I also have my own skin for Youtube, screens and css for Stylus here. - Video DownloadHelper – Can probably download any playing video.
- Tampermonkey – For user scripts, like e.g. this.
- Few more like: Improve Youtube, FadBlock, AdGuard AdBlocker, Youtube No Disturbance.
- SwiftTabs – One key shortcuts, I was using: F1 – Previous tab, F2 – Next tab, had 1 odd issue. Now my keyboard does that with macros.
- GlobalFindBar – Saves search phrase and uses on all tabs.
- Scrollbar Search Highlighter – Nice visualization for all occurrences, not accurate though.
